The White Sox enter camp this spring with far more questions than answers, even with the roster mostly intact from last season. Therein lies the problem. It was that $127-million roster that caused so much disappointment and heartache on the South Side last year. Out is Carlos Quentin for Dayan Viciedo, while Chris Sale will try to fill the huge shoes left by Mark Buehrle, who left to Miami through free agency. But the biggest face to replace will be at manager, where Robin Ventura takes over for the one-man quote machine that is Ozzie Guillen. While the laid-back Ventura couldn't be more different than Guillen personality-wise, the style of play they are looking for might be a lot more similar than people think, considering they played together for years with the White Sox...

Four years later, the Chicago White Sox finally signed Kosuke Fukudome -- and for a fraction of the price he cost the Cubs. The Japanese outfielder agreed on Tuesday to a one-year contract that guarantees $1 million. He will get a $500,000 salary this year, and the White Sox have a $3.5 million option for 2013 with a $500,000 buyout.

A person familiar with the situation says former Arkansas and Southern California quarterback Mitch Mustain is closing in on a minor-league contract with the Chicago White Sox.
